- M&T Realty Capital Corporation appointed Dominick Barresi as an SVP in the New York City office. Barresi joins the capital markets team and will be responsible for MBS investor relations, loan pricing, trading and key capital markets initiatives to support originations across the platform. He joins M&T RCC from Santander, where he was a member of the structured products banking team.
- James Saeli has joined Winston & Strawn LLP’s transactions department as a partner in the New York office and a member of the tax practice. Saeli focuses his practice on the tax aspects of real estate finance specializing in mortgage-backed securitization, particularly real estate investment conduits and other tax-advantaged real estate investment vehicles.
- Syska Hennessy Group, the international engineering firm, has promoted two professionals to principal at its headquarters in New York City. The new principals are James Carrigan, a onetime firefighter and paramedic who leads Syska’s fire/life safety practice; and Alex Engelman, PE, CEM, LEED AP, best known for his work on large-scale infrastructure projects for government agencies.
- The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce on Oct. 29 will host the Best of Brooklyn Real Estate Showcase at the Refinery at Domino, formerly the Domino Sugar Refinery. The Showcase will focus on highlighting the best real estate projects completed between January 2023 and June 2024. James Whelan, president of the Real Estate Board of New York, will deliver the keynote. A reception will be held following the Showcase.
- Bluerock Total Income+ Real Estate Fund has closed on a $750-million revolving line of credit with JPMorgan Chase Bank and RBC Capital Markets. JPMorgan is serving as lead lender for the new credit facility. The fund’s previous line of credit was retired as part of this transaction.
- CRH Ventures, the venture capital unit of building materials solutions business CRH, launched its latest accelerator, Sustainable Building Materials. Applications to the program are open until Dec. 16. The accelerator will target promising Seed-, Series A- and Series B-stage companies in the construction technology and climate tech space with market-ready products.
- Valon, a vertically integrated mortgage servicing platform, completed its $100-million Series C funding round. The round was led by WestCap with participation from new and existing investors including Andreessen Horowitz, bringing Valon’s total raised capital to $230 million since its founding in 2019.
- Tutor Perini Corporation subsidiary Frontier-Kemper Constructors has been awarded a contract valued at approximately $1.1 billion by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection for the Kensico-Eastview Connection Tunnel Project. The scope of work entails the construction of a new deep rock tunnel between the Kensico Reservoir and the Catskill/Delaware Ultraviolet Light Disinfection Facility, both in Westchester County. The new tunnel will provide an additional means of conveying water between the Kensico Reservoir and the CDUV Facility, enhancing operational resiliency and redundancy for New York City’s water supply system.
