  • With the Senate confirmation of Howard Lutnick as Secretary of Commerce and his stepping down as executive chairman of Newmark Group, Inc, CEO Barry M. Gosin will assume the additional role of chairman of its operating company, Newmark & Company Real Estate, Inc. In addition, Stephen Merkel has been named chairman of the board, succeeding Lutnick in that capacity. Merkel, who has been with Newmark since its acquisition by BGC Partners, Inc., will also retain his roles as Newmark’s EVP and chief legal officer. Kyle Lutnick will also join the board. 
  • Bradford Allen, a national full-service commercial real estate firm, announced Mitzi Flexer has joined the company’s New York office as managing director. Flexer will be instrumental in expanding the firm’s presence in New York City’s outer boroughs. Before joining Bradford Allen, Flexer was a senior director at Cushman & Wakefield, specializing in strategic leasing and tenant representation. 
  • Broadstone Net Lease, Inc. announced that its board of directors has appointed Richard Imperiale, president and CIO of Uniplan Investment Counsel, Inc., and Joseph Saffire, former CEO of Life Storage, Inc. and current director of Extra Space Storage Inc., to the board. Imperiale is a founding member of Uniplan Investment Counsel and chairman of its investment policy committee, Saffire joined Life Storage as CIO in 2017 and served as CEO from March 2019 through July 2023, when Life Storage was merged into Extra Space Storage Inc.  
  • Atkins Companies, a leading multigenerational commercial real estate development, investment and property management firm, and Denholtz, a leading privately held investment management firm, have hired Tyler Kelsey as operations manager and Priscilla Paredes as property accountant at the Medical Offices at Chappaqua Crossing, a 490,000-square-foot, 59-acre multi-tenant office building in Chappaqua, NY. Acquired by Atkins Companies and Denholtz in 2023, the Medical Offices at Chappaqua Crossing is part of Chappaqua Crossing, a mixed-use reimagining of the former Reader’s Digest global headquarters. 
  • Link Logistics, a leading operator of last-mile logistics real estate, appointed Melissa Sachs as chief communications officer. In this newly created role, Sachs heads an integrated communications and marketing function. She previously served as Link Logistics’ SVP, communications, since 2021. 
  • Odyssey Retail Advisors, a leading retail real estate advisory group, has promoted Colleen Franke and Sam Masters to senior associates. A native of Baltimore, Franke spent two years after graduating college in information sales, collaborating directly with leading consulting and private equity firms to enhance their market analysis strategies. Masters came to Odyssey Retail Advisors as an intern in 2021.  
  • Northgate Real Estate Group, led by Greg Corbin, said it dominated the distressed real estate market for a second consecutive year, driving record-high transaction volume and aggregate dollar value. The firm was ranked #1 in New York City, and one of the top three firms in the country by New Generation Research’s BankruptcyData. In 2024, Northgate closed 56 deals with an aggregate value of $625 million and has a substantially greater volume of transactions projected to close in 2025.
