New York Investors Buying Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza
New York-based LIVWRK and DFH Partners were selected by Chicago-based Capri Urban Investors to acquire the 40-acre Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza regional mall. The 869,000-square-foot mall includes a Cinemark movie theater. The city has approved adding two million square feet of additional development including multifamily, a 400-room hotel, office and retail uses.
Earlier this year CIM agreed to buy the center for more than $100 million but decided against moving forward this summer when neighborhood members objected to a plan that didn’t incorporate housing into the MXU.
LIVWRK’s Asher Abehsera told the Los Angeles Times he plans to talk with local residents before deciding on revitalization plans, saying “A project of this scale affords a mix of uses.”
The sale to LIVWRK and DFH Partners is expected to close by year’s end. Pricing of the latest deal is undisclosed. A Macy’s department store and IHOP restaurant are not included in the deal.
