New Skanska Skyscraper Will Have 50K-Gallon Rainwater Cistern

A green park, complete with a 50,000-gallon rainwater harvesting cistern, will be installed in an under-construction Skanska skyscraper in downtown Houston. The 754,000-square-foot office building at 800 Capitol St. will be the new home for Bank of America, which will occupy 205,000 square feet of the space.

The 24,000-square-foot park, dubbed Sky Park at Capitol Tower, will be on the 12th story of the building, and will be open to tenants occupying the 35-story building. The rainwater cistern will support the park.

The building is anticipated for completion in the first half of 2019. In addition to office space, retail and restaurant space will be available in the underground tunnel level. The building, designed by Gensler, is only one of four core-and-shell projects nationwide to achieve the pre-certified LEED v4 Platinum level.
