New Residential Tower Coming to First Hill Medical Campus
Horizon House, a nonprofit, independent living senior community, plans to add a 33-story residential tower in Seattle at its First Hill campus.
The 202-unit, independent-living tower will be built on the site of a 1980s-era wing that will be demolished, reported the Puget Sound Business Journal. The new tower will join three existing buildings on the campus at 900 University Street. It’s the latest senior housing project for the neighborhood, which has a high concentration of retirement communities around major medical facilities.
Seattle-based Mithun is the architect, and Andersen Construction is the design-builder of the expansion of the nearly 900,000-square-foot campus. The new high-rise will measure 500,000 square feet and have underground parking.
Westlake Consulting Group LLC is the construction manager for the overall project, and Abbott Construction will has been hired to do the upgrades. The plans call for construction to start in late 2025 or early 2026, with completion set for 2029.
