A New Luxury Hotel Addition: Glamping
When you think of luxury hotels, the last thing that crosses your mind is camping. Chicago’s luxury hotel, The Gwen, is flipping the script on luxury stays as it introduces the city’s first-ever glamping experience. Glamping, or glamorous camping, involves quaintly-decorated and spacious tents with amenities that would otherwise not be available in a normal camping experience.
At The Gwen, for example, guests will have the option to sleep under the stars in a 16-foot diameter tent, replete with bohemian accessories like drum side tables, a queen-size bed, and earthenware lamps. Guests also have access to the two-bedroom suite, which can accommodate up to six guests, along with access to the hotel’s Elite Ambassador Service, which is designed for VIP guests. Such services include: round-trip airport transportation, access to meals made by the Executive Chef, and various pampering services.
Unlike traditional camping, the cost of such an experience to sleep on one of Chicago’s largest outdoor terraces encompassing more than 1,000 square feet, won’t come cheap. Prices will start at $5,500 per night.
