New City Medical Plaza Rising for Medical Tourists
New City Medical Plaza, a 26-story tower with doctors offices, a medical lab, a surgery center and an adjacent 140-room hotel, is being planned yards from the San Diego border crossing in Tijuana. The facility is expected to be operational within three years.
The facility is part of a complex of high-rises near the San Ysidro Port of Entry, that would be visible to motorists on Interstate 5 traveling into Tijuana. New City has three residential towers, with two more planned.
The developer is providing a single location that’s easily accessible to U.S. patients to capture a share of medical tourism, as well as U.S. Latinos traveling to Mexico for treatment. Typically procedures involve lower-cost medical care, such as plastic surgery, dental procedures and stem-cell treatments.
