New Braunfels Utility Planning for Explosive Growth

The New Braunfels utility company is building a new headquarters, in line with the explosive growth of its energy customers. The town has grown by over 30% in the last five years to over 110,000 residents.

New Braunfels Utilities is spending $160 million on its new headquarters. The power company’s new offices will be built on a 77-acre parcel fronting Interstate 35, which the utility purchased in November 2023. The utility intends to create a space where it can grow as the burgeoning city grows.

The San Antonio Business Journal reports NBU’s new HQ will include an 85,000-square-foot office, a 10,000-square-foot warehouse and operations dock, a 15,000-square-foot equipment center and a 12,000-square-foot vehicle maintenance facility.

The company’s current headquarters is just under 27,000 square feet. The Main Plaza Building is actually a collection of buildings constructed over time.
