New Braunfels Shows Topgolf the Green

New Braunfels has chipped in to allow Topgolf to commit to constructing an $18 million sports and entertainment facility.

Houston-based NewQuest plans to develop the project. The multistory venue, set to include as many as 60 golf hitting bays, is earmarked for a tract that’s part of New Braunfels’ Town Center at Creekside, a mixed-use development that includes other entertainment tenants.

The $3 million incentives package will include $1.5 million for NewQuest to offset infrastructure improvements associated with the project. The remaining $1.5 million is a direct economic development incentive to Topgolf as long as certain performance conditions are met annually.

Topgolf has steadily increased its number of venues. Since 2002, it has announced plans for new venues in multiple states, including California, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts and Utah.

The New Braunfels Topgolf will be the 13th in Texas and the third in the San Antonio-Austin region. The company plans to open a new venue in Grand Prairie later this year.
