New Braunfels Launches 2 New Fire Stations
New Braunfels recently broke ground on a pair of new fire stations that are significantly larger than the ones they’re replacing. The new Fire Station #3 on Hanz Drive will span 12,000 square feet, more than three times the size of the current facility, while the 3,000-square-foot Fire Station #2 will be replaced by a 15,000-square-foot structure.
“We are extremely grateful to the citizens of New Braunfels for their continued support with these bond projects,” said New Braunfels Fire Chief Patrick O’Connell. “These new fire stations will be beautiful additions to our community, and because they will be located in or very near their existing locations, response times will remain unchanged.”
Construction on the facilities is expected to take 12 months. Both will feature significant increases in the amount of apparatus bay space, along with dedicated bunker gear storage rooms, bunker gear cleaning equipment, and breathing air fill stations.
