New Braunfels food bank spending $12M on affordable housing

New Braunfels Food Bank Building Affordable Housing Units

The New Braunfels Food Bank is working on an agreement with the city next week in the hopes of building affordable housing for its clients.

The $12 million apartment project will consist of 51 units catered toward families enrolled in the food bank’s program.

Enrollees will be able to live in the housing with reduced rent for 24 to 36 months while going through the food bank’s educational program.

Classes will range from nutrition education to home maintenance, and even financial literacy.

The Food Bank’s Eric Cooper added, “It’s first-class housing, at below-market rents, with robust programming that develops them as a person and family.”

Connect Texas Multifamily 2023 will take place on Aug. 22, 2023 at Virgin Hotel in Dallas. Click here for more information and to register.
