New Braunfels to Beef Up Airport Master Plan

Growth in forecasted business and traffic is prompting the city of New Braunfels to take another look at a 20-year airport master plan. The plan, which was approved in 2008, is undergoing a fresh examination with help from KSA, an airport consulting firm. The idea is to re-set the document, so it will provide a plan through 2038.

“New Braunfels is growing; the airport is growing; operations are up,” New Braunfels Regional Airport’s Robert Lee told Community Impact. “We’re getting more corporate traffic coming into New Braunfels.”

The update is in the planning stages, with several options being examined. These include extension of the main runway, updating connecting taxiways, and expanding the current terminal. Another idea puts a new terminal on the airport’s west side that would be surrounded by additional hangers.
