New Batting Simulators to Open in Addison

It’s not like the old-school batting cages with the metal arm slinging fastballs to batters in a net enclosure.

Batbox, a 13,000-square-foot venue at Addison Village on the Parkway, will feature 10 baseball simulators in a sports bar-like environment. A ball is pitched your way, and you hit it with a bat against a screen that looks like a baseball field. Groups of up to 18 players can reserve a bay.

The sports bar will offer shareable plates of bar food, accompanied by a full-service bar. Apart from swinging a bat, walls in the space will be lined with screens for sports watching.

The Dallas-area venue, which is set to open this week, is estimated to cost between $3 million and $5 million. SIMco, the company behind Batbox, is planning to open 25 venues in the US by 2030, primarily in towns with Major League Baseball teams.
