New Affordable Housing Community Opens in Arlington

Affordable housing developer AHC Inc. recently held the grand opening of The Terraces at Arlington View, a $40.8 million redevelopment of an affordable housing community in Maryland and Virginia.

The development features 77 affordable apartments, double the number of homes from the previous building. The new community includes several sustainable features such as solar panels, a green roof, and electric charging stations. Many local dignitaries attended the ceremony, including Virginia State Senator Barbara Favola and State Delegate Alfonso Lopez.

The affordable apartments are intended for families earning between 30% and 60% of the area’s median income. This is phase one of a larger redevelopment plan. A second phase is set to bring redevelopment of the other buildings on the west side of S. Rolfe Street, providing even more brand-new homes to the community. The Terraces is AHC’s first Energy Star-certified building and achieved Gold-level certification with EarthCraft Multifamily.
