New $520M Natural Resources HQ Planned in Sacramento
California’s Dept. of General Services selected a design-build partnership of Turner and AC Martin to deliver a $520-million, 20-story, headquarters office tower for the Dept. of Natural Resources in Sacramento. The 838,000-square-foot building will house more than 3,500 employees, including other agencies such as the Dept. of Water Resources, Dept. of Forestry and Fire Protection, and the Wildlife Conservation Board.
Turner’s Grant Griffanti says the new facility, “will offer much-needed technical and collaboration space for the critical government functions that protect California’s environment and natural resources.”
The site at 7th/8th and O/P streets will include 10,000 square feet of retail and public space, a 300-seat auditorium, a multi-vendor food court and pedestrian plaza. Exterior improvements will be made to the nearby, historic Heilbron House, as well as building a new childcare facility for 120 children.
Construction is expected to begin this fall, with completion scheduled for summer of 2021.
