Netflix to Develop Studio Complex at Former Fort Monmouth Site
Netflix will develop an East Coast production facility on the former Fort Monmouth campus in New Jersey’s Monmouth County, transforming a property that has been largely vacant for more than a decade.
The streaming service plans to commit $848 million to develop the more than 292-acre parcel, adjacent to Route 35 in Eatontown and Oceanport, into 12 soundstages totaling nearly 500,000 square feet. The remainder of the property will house supporting film uses and several community amenities.
“We believe a Netflix studio can boost the local and state economy with thousands of new jobs and billions in economic output, while sparking a vibrant production ecosystem in New Jersey,” said Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos.
Fried Frank advised Netflix on the campus acquisition. The Fried Frank team was led by real estate partners Michael Werner and Tal Golomb, and included special counsel Donna Mussio and associates Kaitlin Gottlieb and Colin Patch.
