NET Power to build. zero emissions plant in Odessa

NET Power To Install First Texas Near-Zero Emissions Power Plant

We’ve come a long way from the days when we used to see a plume of smoke coming from the regions power plant. NET Power is developing what is believed to be the world’s first utility-scale natural gas-fired power plant with near-zero emissions, in the Permian Basin region of Texas. The project integrates power production with transportation and underground sequestration of carbon dioxide. The plant is expected to be online in 2026.

NET Power tested the concept at a demonstration site in La Porte, Texas. This utility-scale serial number one project serves as the commercial launch for NET Power’s technology. The project, to be built near Odessa, will produce 300 megawatts of power. It’s expected to be paid for by a combination of shareholder equity, new project financing and government grants and loans. NET Power’s Ron DeGregorio adds, “This plant allows for the quick ramp up in NET Power’s global deployments, providing a clear and meaningful pathway to near emission-free reliable power.”
