Nestlé Taps Into 237 Million Gallon Drinking Water Initiative

Despite current El Niño conditions, California is still facing a severe drought. Nestlé Waters North America Inc. has responded to the crisis by pledging $1 million to help the Inland Empire’s Cucamonga Valley Water District’s latest groundwater treatment project.

The CVWD’s project, which will cost an estimated $4.7 million, is anticipated to produce an additional 237 million gallons of drinking water each year. The new plant’s treatment of the wells will create a combined output of 7,400 acre-feet annually.

In the early 2000s, Nestlé purchased an Arrowhead water-bottling plant in Ontario. Since then, the company has been invested in the CVWD’s educational Environmental Learning Center, as well as a supporter of CVWD’s annual Kids Environmental Festival, Earth day, poster contest and internship program.
