Nebraska Furniture Mart Building Texas-Sized Store

Nebraska Furniture Marts are usually so big they create their own ecosystem. The store planned for Cedar Park is slated to be 1.2 million square feet, and with it, shoppers can expect a 250-room, full-service hotel, a 30,000-square-foot, city-owned convention center, and 250,000 square feet of retail.

The Austin Business Journal reports the store will employ at least 700, including managers, interior designers, sales professionals, customer service specialists and warehouse personnel. Construction is expected to begin in early 2024, with an anticipated late 2026 opening.

It will be the fifth store for 85-year-old NFM. The furniture company, owned by Warren Buffett, is billed as a “one-stop shop for the home, specializing in furniture, flooring, appliances, and electronics” and offers services including interior design, delivery, and installation.
