Nature Conservancy Debuts New Portland HQ
The Nature Conservancy completed the renovation and expansion of its headquarters in Portland. The facility at 821 S.E. 14th Ave. has also been renamed the Oregon Conservation Center.
The environmental organization partnered with developer project^ and LEVER Architecture to reimagine the 15,288-square-foot building. The newly-christened facility, which is targeting LEED Gold certification, is expected to better facilitate the organization’s collaborative approach while delivering more natural, open spaces and facilities for partners and guests to gather.
The Nature Conservancy’s 1970’s office building was renovated, and a new 2,000-square-foot meeting pavilion was added for collaboration with partner environmental organizations. Other elements include advanced solar and storm water management systems, a landscape featuring Oregon’s indigenous plants, innovative use of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), as well as building materials from the organization’s project sites.
The project team also included Lease Crutcher Lewis Construction, KPFF Consulting Engineers, PAE Consulting Engineers and Lando and Associates Landscape Architecture.
