National Urban League Headquarters Will Anchor Harlem MXU

The National Urban League will build a new headquarters in Harlem as part of a mixed-use project from BRP Companies, L+M Development Partners, Taconic Partners, the Prusik Group and Dabar Development. Goldman Sachs’ Urban Investment Group has made a $188-million commitment.

The Urban League Empowerment Center, on 125th Street between Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard and Lenox Avenue, will include the National Urban League’s headquarters, the Urban Civil Rights Museum Experience and the National Urban League Institute for Race, Equity and Justice, along with affordable housing, office space and retail space.

Founded in Harlem in 1910, the civil rights organization more recently has been headquartered at 80 Pine St. in Lower Manhattan.

“This project represents a major investment in the neighborhood where the National Urban League was founded,” said Marc H. Morial, National Urban League president and CEO. He thanked Goldman Sachs’ Margaret Anadu for backing the project.
