National Grid Will Have Brookfield as Landlord

National Grid has signed a 15-year, 87,000-square-foot lease at Brookfield Properties’ 2 Hanson Place in Downtown Brooklyn. The global energy company plans a modern workspace at the building in response to the changing expectations of talent, and expects to move in by the end of this year.

2 Hanson Place became part of the Brookfield portfolio with Brookfield’s acquisition of Forest City Realty. “We are repositioning this Class A commercial asset to serve the needs of tenants looking for new, modern spaces,” said Brookfield SVP Alireza Esmaeilzadeh. “We look forward to welcoming National Grid to 2 Hanson Place.”

A Cushman & Wakefield team of James L. Frank, Daniel Johnsen, Lawrence E. Wilks, Joseph Cirone, Patrick Dugan and Helen Paul led the site search and leasing negotiations on behalf of National Grid. Brookfield was represented in-house by Jesse Cooperman, Alex Liscio, Ross Hoddeson and Esmaeilzadeh.
