Nashville to Embark on $1.2B Airport Redo
Nashville International Airport Authority has unveiled plans for a $1.2 billion renovation that will include new parking, a larger baggage claim area, expanded concourse and lobby, and a hotel. Known as the “BNA Vision,” the renovation and expansion will be among the most expensive in Nashville’s history. BNA is Nashville’s airport code.
One of the first projects is a new parking garage, on which construction is already underway. It will add 2,000 parking spaces, and is scheduled for a fall 2018 completion.
Airport Authority President and CEO Rob Wigington said the expansion is necessary, due to the growing number of travelers passing through the airport. The project is being funded through the airport’s existing revenue streams from bond sales, grants, parking and concessions revenue and fees paid through airline agreements.
