Nanobrewery Expected to Spur Activity in Downtown Banning

Craft brew maker Brew Rebellion expanded from its original location in Yucaipa, CA to a new microbrewery and tasting room in Banning. Founded in 2012, the new site is slated to open this week in a long-vacant storefront leased from the city.

The Banning location is called a nanobrewery, which involves producing smaller, 200-gallon batches of craft brew at a time. Brew Rebellion features live music, wall-mounted TVs, and hookups for people to bring their PlayStation 2’s and video games. The Museum of Pinball in Banning supplied pinball machines that line a wall featuring the building’s original 1909 brickwork.

Banning hopes the Brew Rebellion location at 33 S. San Gorgonio Ave. will “spur additional economic activity” in the downtown area. Already the owners of the brewery are seeking to enliven the area by hosting events with nearby businesses.
