NAIOP SoCal Silver Shovel Bragging Rights Go to Cardinal and Gold
The rivalry is legendary, and 2019 bragging rights go to USC! Alumni pride aside, NAIOP SoCal’s annual UCLA vs USC Real Estate Competition is really more about bringing a new generation of CRE talent to common ground in a “one industry” mindset, targeting best practices and educational excellence.
The teams from the Ziman Center of Real Estate at UCLA’s Anderson School of Business and the Lusk Center at USC’s Marshall School of Business and Price School of Public Policy compete by developing strategic plans for a relevant location. This year’s choice was a 15-acre site located in Stanton, home to manufacturer ORCO for almost 70 years.
The winning team, as judged by a panel of experts, receives the coveted Silver Shovel. USC’s “The Block on Beach” took home this year’s honors for its mixed-use development of for-sale townhomes, multifamily residential, and retail surrounding a central plaza.
