NAI Michael Cos Breaks Ground on $1.3B MXU in Bowie

NAI Michael Cos. has commenced construction on the $1.3 billion South Lake development in Bowie, Maryland, Washington Business Journal reported. This 3.6 million-square-foot mixed-use project will feature 1,600 residences and a $400 million commercial component, South Lake Marketplace, adjacent to Liberty Sports Park. The sports park draws 344,000 attendees annually.

South Lake Marketplace will include a Giant supermarket, two hotels, and an indoor sports facility. The first hotel, a Home2 Suites by Hilton, is set to start construction soon, with the full marketplace buildout expected by mid-2026. South Lake has received $32.6 million in tax increment-financed county bonds issued in 2019 for project infrastructure, and Maryland’s state government has contributed $15 million to Liberty Sports Park.
