N. Austin Randall’s to Shut Doors

In most communities, the local grocery store is the focal point of a community. When they close, it stings a bit. However, in the case of a North Austin store, there is a worthy substitute not far away.

The Randalls grocery store in North Austin is closing in early February. The company says the store at 10900 Research Blvd. near Braker Lane is not performing. San Antonio-based powerhouse grocer H-E-B has a store right across the street.

The company, owned by Albertson’s, filed a WARN notice with the state on Jan. 4 to let officials know that 76 employees there are losing their jobs. A spokesperson said the company is “working diligently to place as many associates as possible in other locations.”
