Multimillion-Dollar Makeover in Store for Marriott Rivercenter

Marriott confirmed plans for an upgrade to its 1,001-key Marriott Rivercenter Hotel, located in downtown San Antonio. While the hospitality giant didn’t release the cost of the renovation, it did say that all guestrooms will be redesigned, and common areas redone.

Also on tap for the 30-year-old property at 101 Bowie St. will be reconstruction and expansion of the lobby, restaurant, lounge and retail spaces. Plans are in place to add an M Club, a 24-hour lounge open to Marriott’s elite members. Even lobby escalators will be repositioned.

Finally, the redo will focus on adding more than 11,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, providing a total of 70,000 square feet that can be marketed to groups. “We are expanding the footprint, but we are also upgrading to a much more activated, luxury space,” Suzy Hart, the hotel’s general manager, told the San Antonio Business Journal.
