Multifamily Icon Doug Bibby Takes a Seat on Shelters to Shutters National BOD

Vienna, VA-based Shelters to Shutters has landed Doug Bibby, the recently retired president of the National Multifamily Housing Council, on its national board of directors for a three-year term.

Shelters to Shutters is a nonprofit organization that sources, screens, trains and places highly motivated and capable individuals into high demand on-site jobs in partnership with over 40 apartment owners and operators.

Bibby served as president of the National Multifamily Housing Council, a national organization of than 2,000-member firms involved in the $3 trillion multifamily housing industry, for the past 21 years. He retired during the organization’s annual meeting in February.

Shelters to Shutters plans to make the most of Bibby’s expertise of the multifamily industry and the relationships he has cultivated over the course of his more than two-decade career to assist the organization in further scaling its training and placement operations to further its growth and help reach more people.

“We are very fortunate to have someone of Doug’s caliber and character join the board of Shelters to Shutters,” said Chris Finlay, Shelters to Shutters founder and chairman of the board. “I am moved by the number of people our organization has helped achieve economic self-sufficiency since our inception, but there is so much more to do. With Doug on board, we plan to leverage his expertise and the respect and credibility he holds within the industry to deepen our network of partners and enter new markets across the country.”

Shelters to Shutters currently operates in nine markets across the country: Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte, Houston, Nashville, National Capital Region, North Texas, Orlando and Greater Phoenix. Its vision is to expand program operations to serve 25 markets by 2025.

She supported two membership-elected presidents who were commercial real estate practitioners, and managed the communications initiatives of the organization’s commercial special interest group. When not following the latest commercial real estate news, Lisa is zeroed in on her charismatic off-the-track thoroughbred as she makes the transition from an utterly failed racehorse to a lovely show hunter.
