Much Needed $125M Texas State Student Housing Project Nears Completion
Completion is slated for the end of the year for Texas State University’s latest student housing project—Hilltop—located in San Marcos. And another is on the way.
The first project, which costs $125 million will be an 8-story residence hall with 1,006 beds. Hilltop will be equipped with a main lobby, kitchen, seminar and gaming rooms, and a laundry room. JT Vaughn Construction is building the project.
This is big deal for the school. Last year there wasn’t enough room to house the incoming students, “Last year we had students in a hotel, this year we have a master lease at an apartment complex for some transfer students. We believe that next year, with Hilltop, we’ll be able to have all the students that are required to live on campus be on campus right away at the beginning of the year,” Texas State’s William Mattera said. Community Impact reports the school will soon start work on another 942-bed, $101 million student housing development.
