MSCI Finalizes Deal for Real Capital Analytics

New York City-based MSCI Inc., a leading provider of critical decision support tools and services for the global investment community, has completed its acquisition of Real Capital Analytics (RCA). The $950-million acquisition was originally announced on August 2.

Founded in 2000 by Robert M. White Jr. and also headquartered in New York, RCA has compiled a database of more than $20 trillion of commercial property transactions linked to  200,000 –plus investor and lender profiles. MSCI said last month the acquisition would enhance its commercial real estate capabilities.

Henry Fernandez, chairman and CEO of MSCI, said, “This acquisition comes at a time when the commercial real estate sector is seeing substantial transformation as investor appetite for the asset class continues to grow. RCA’s excellence in the space will allow us to help investors better manage existing risks and navigate new ones as they emerge.”
