MSC Chosen for $160M Federal Way Housing Project

Sound Transit recently selected MSC to develop 230 affordable apartments in downtown Federal Way.

MSC and its housing development partner, Shelter Resources Inc., will develop the multifamily property adjacent to the Federal Way Downtown Station. “MSC is honored to be chosen for this project as we continue to advance our mission in building affordable housing in the South King County community,” said Kirsten York, MSC CEO.

The plans call for approximately 230 homes across two buildings in a four-block area adjacent to the station. Over 90% of the proposed homes are two-, three-, and four-bedroom units. Walsh Construction will serve as the general contractor on the project, which is designed by Perkins Eastman. Construction is expected to start in 2028.

The two buildings will provide multiple pedestrian routes throughout the station area, connecting to the Performing Arts and Events Center, Town Square Park, and the Federal Way Downtown Station.
