Mount Auburn Club in Watertown to be Redeveloped into Lab/Office Use

The Mount Auburn Club, a fitness club in Watertown, is being sold to a joint venture that plans to develop it into laboratory and office use. The sales price was not disclosed.

In a statement, the Crowley family, owners of the club for more than 46 years, announced the sale:

“The COVID-19 crisis has created a challenging environment for the Mount Auburn Club to operate in and our long term outlook would be uncertain at best. Our family is prepared for a new stage in our lives and we will always treasure the memories and relationships we have forged with our members, guests and local community.”

A joint venture between an affiliate of Alexandria Real Estate Equities Inc. and National Development plans to build a new laboratory/office development at the property. The JV has collaborated on other projects in the Boston area, including Longwood Center and 15 Necco Street.
