Mortenson, Perkins&Will Awarded $1.7B Harborview Bond Contract

King County and UW Medicine have announced that Mortenson and Perkins&Will have been selected as the design-build team for Harborview Medical Center’s $1.74 billion bond program.

Mortenson and Perkins&Will were awarded the $1.74 billion Harborview Bond contract after an extensive search. In November 2020, King County voters approved funding for the Harborview Bond Program, to support a new multi-story inpatient medical tower, improvements to the hospital’s infrastructure and renovations to spaces and the campus.

“Mortenson and Perkins & Will are honored to partner with King County and Harborview Medical Center on this transformative project,” said a spokesperson for the design-build team. “We’re excited to bring our deep expertise in healthcare design and construction to support Harborview’s mission.”

The project is anticipated to break ground on the new tower site in 2027/2028. Once construction begins, the hospital will remain 100 percent operable during every phase of the build.
