
More Than Two Years of Employment Growth: Texas Adds 32K Jobs
August job numbers in the Lone Star State totaled 32,000 in August 2018, marking 26 consecutive months of employment growth. Texas added 394,500 jobs year over year, for an annual employment growth rate of 3.2%, according to data from the Texas Workforce Commission. The unemployment rate of 3.9% is a hair below July 2018’s 4%, and below the August 2017 number of 4.4%.
The Goods Producing industry reported the higher year-over-year increase of 6.4%, adding a total of 113,800 jobs from August 2017-August 2018.
