Modular Homes Coming to Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge, LA, like many areas, is undergoing a housing crisis. More demand from people moving to the city, combined with scarce housing supply means “very few houses that are available or in good condition, and they are priced out of that market,” developer Susannah Bing told the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report.

Bing and developer colleague Jak Kunstler are trying to rectify the issue by bringing the modular home concept to Baton Rouge’s Mid City area. A just-completed, 1,256-square-foot, three-bedroom home is at 111 West Dr. The partners are planning two similar houses on adjacent lots.

Bing and Kunstler’s business plan calls for developing modular houses in neighborhoods where additional housing is needed. Bing told the Business Report that the homes could be built in other Baton Rouge neighborhoods. “They don’t look like trailer houses,” she added.
