Mixed-Use Development Planned for Rio Grande City
St. Ives Realty LLC and Rio Grande Village LLC, a group of national developers, are planning a multimillion-dollar mixed-use development on 150 acres in Rio Grande City, TX. The acreage, which fronts U.S. 83, will support retail, commercial, office space, industrial facilities and hospitality. Work on the 40-acre first phase, consisting mainly of retail, is expected to launch in fall.
The project, and land assemblage, caps off close to a decade of work between the developers, the Starr County Industrial Foundation, Starr County, the Rio Grande City Economic Development Corp. and Rio Grande City. The task included targeting approximately 90 acres out of a flood plain.
“Strategically located on premium frontage property off of US Highway 83 in the Rio Grande City business district, this development will serve as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation for our community,” SCIF’s Rose Benavidez told the Rio Grande Guardian.
