Mitsui Fudosan Proposes 43-Story DTLA Tower

Connect Los Angeles is tomorrow in DTLA. Here’s how to join us:

Plans have been filed with the City of LA for a new 43-story residential tower at 8th and Figueroa St., across the street from FIGat7th retail center. The project is being proposed by New York-based Mitsui Fudosan America, the U.S. group of Tokyo-based developer Mitsui Fudosan.

The development is slated to include 436 units, more than 10,000 square feet of street-level retail and restaurant space. The roughly one-acre site has served for decades as surface parking lots. Five lots will be merged together into one ground lot.

In the 1990s, Mitsui Fudosan pursued a 400-room hotel on the property. The company’s LA holdings include another development site on 8th St. between Hope St. and Grand Ave.
