Mitsui Fudosan America’s Second DTLA Tower Moves Forward

Mitsui Fudosan America envisions breaking ground in Spring 2019 on a 39-story residential tower in DTLA’s Financial District. Last year, the New York-based developer announced plans for another 43-story residential tower at 8th and Figueroa St., across from the FIGat7th retail center.

The second project, called the Eighth, Hope & Grand Project, includes 409 studio, one- and two-bedroom residential units atop a five-story podium with roughly 7,300 square feet of ground-level retail space.

The initial study filed by the City of Los Angeles’ Planning Department reveals a slender design produced by architects Johnson Fain. The concrete, metal and glass clad tower has gotten taller from earlier designs, growing to 499 feet from 467 feet. The parking allotment in three subterranean and three above-grade parking levels has also increased to 494 vehicle stalls.

The development is anticipated to deliver in Fall 2021.
