Baptist Health System, which operates one of two major primary care hospitals on San Antonio’s south side, announced an expansion at Mission Trail Baptist Hospital, its facility in Brooks. BHS’ proposal is to spend $1 million to expand its operating room space.

Construction is scheduled for completion by November 2018. The end result will be two operating rooms allowing Mission Trail to provide more outpatient procedures, and increase complex surgery capacity. The hospital, at 3333 Research Plaza, saw volume increased by 16% in the past year, while market data is projecting that southeast San Antonio’s population is estimated to grow by 11% over the next five years.

“Expanding our operating room capacity will allow us to care for more people . . . on the south side,” Mission Trail Baptist’s Sandy Ethridge told the San Antonio Business Journal.
