Milwaukee Tool Leases 70K SF at Old Post Office for First Chicago Space

Milwaukee Tool has signed a lease for nearly 70,000 square feet at 601W Companies’ redeveloped Old Post Office in the South Loop, according to published reports. It will be the first Chicago office for the Brookfield, WI-based manufacturer, which is set to occupy the space in 2022.

“Milwaukee Tool is a company built on innovation, so they needed an environment intended to foster that innovation and continue to support their company’s growth,” said JLL EVP Jamie Wallenberg said in a statement from 601W.

Wallenberg, JLL senior managing director Steve Steinmeyer and associate Isabelle Montagne negotiated the lease on behalf of Milwaukee Tool. A Telos Group agency leasing team of Jamey Dix, Matt Whipple and Daniel Heckman represented 601W.

Crain’s Chicago Business reported that the lease by a newcomer to Chicago is welcome news for downtown  landlords, who have seen office vacancies climb to all-time highs during the pandemic.
