Millennium Park Reopens; Lakefront Trail Will Follow Next Week

Chicago’s most-visited attraction, Millennium Park, began “cautiously reopening” on Monday, with safeguards and best practices from the Chicago Department of Public Health. The park will be open daily for groups of 10 persons or fewer who practice social distancing and wear face coverings, as will neighboring Maggie Daley Park.

“Millennium Park is one of Chicago’s great attractions and we are tremendously excited to have it take this first step in cautious reopening,” said Mayor Lori Lightfoot. “As we continue to navigate the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis, our hope is to be able to take even further measures over the coming weeks and months.”

Lightfoot announced “further measures” on Monday, rolling out a timeline for bars to reopen on June 15 and the Lakefront Trail east of Lake Shore Drive will reopen on June 22. However, beaches and parks East of Lake Shore Drive will remain closed.
