Midtown Building Teardown Makes Way for Apartments

Demolition is underway on Houston’s former Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority building at 2850 Fannin St. In its place, Caydon Property Group plans a 380-unit property dubbed Main Midtown, which was mentioned in Connect Media during summer 2016. In addition to apartments, Caydon agreed to install more than 200 bike spaces, in exchange for a site parking variance.

In the meantime, the developer now has a presence in Houston, having opened its first U.S. office at the Bank of America Center on 700 Louisiana St.

Though backhoes are currently on the site, it’s uncertain as to when foundation-pouring and construction on the actual apartment building will begin.
