Microunit Condos Coming to East Austin
Housing affordability in East Austin has been an issue for a while. In an effort to provide living space that is a little more affordable, Capsa Ventures is building Fourth & at Fourth and Chicon Streets on the east side. Fourth & is offering microunit condominiums, averaging approximately 500 square feet.
The three-story, 97-unit project will also offer larger one-and two-bedroom condos. According to Scott Sproat with Capsa Ventures, approximately half of the units have been reserved, with a fair number of the reservations focused on studio and micro-loft units.
The current price for a Fourth & condo ranges from $250,000 to just under $600,000. The development, which is anticipated for a November 2017 completion, is being built with recycled steel and concrete, and will include several energy efficient features.
