Microsoft’s GitHub Deal Brings Kilroy’s Seattle Portfolio to 100% Leased
Los Angeles-based Kilroy Realty Corporation signed a 10-year lease with Microsoft subsidiary GitHub for 61,000 square feet of office space at Skyline Tower in Bellevue. The transaction, combined with three recently signed leases, has effectively filled Kilroy’s current 1.8-million square-foot Seattle portfolio, underscoring the increasingly tight market conditions in the region.
Kilroy’s Rob Swartz says, “Over the past several years, Seattle has developed into one of the most rewarding markets for commercial real estate in the nation.”
The REIT points out extraordinary demand for Class A office space is being fueled by the nation’s largest technology companies, which continue to expand their presence across greater Seattle. Region-wide vacancy rates at year-end 2019 fell below 5%, while total annual absorption approached about 1.5 million square feet.
Skyline Tower, located at 10900 NE Fourth St., contains more than 400,000 square feet. The 24-story CBD building has ground-floor retail, as well as an outdoor plaza, and is adjacent to City Center Plaza, Microsoft’s Bing corporate HQ.
