Microsoft’s 500-Acre Redmond Campus Set for 3M-SF Expansion
Microsoft is planning a major refresh of its 502-acre Redmond campus that encompasses adding nearly three million square feet of space spanning 72 acres for another 8,000 workers. Updated renderings detail 2.5 million square feet of office space, as well as 500,000 square feet of amenities space in five villages.
The vision is to add 17 new four- or five-story buildings at the East Redmond site that are centered around a new two-acre plaza, which could hold as many as 12,000 people for events. Also planned are a Microsoft company store along with retail shops and restaurants.
The giant technology company is removing 13 older buildings to accommodate the new buildings, as well as renovating roughly 6.7 million square feet of existing space. The campus will be organized around walking or biking, with car drop-off and parking areas pushed to the periphery of the campus or to underground structured parking.
Delivery of the first new building is expected by early 2023.
