Microsoft Pays $330M for Mountain View Campus, Its Bay Area Employment Hub

Microsoft has paid $330 million to buy a huge Mountain View tech campus the company occupies, the Mercury News reported. The tech giant acquired an office and research hub at 1045 La Avenida St. in Mountain View where it now operates.

Washington State-based Microsoft bought the campus, which has served as its primary employment hub in the Bay Area, through an all-cash transaction. Acting through an affiliate, Mission West Properties sold the campus to Microsoft.

The deal appears to be the largest real estate purchase in Santa Clara County this year, measured by dollar amount. It’s also one of the largest in the Bay Area in 2024. Mission West had leased the 33.3-acre site to Microsoft for several years before selling it this week.

Beginning in 2017, Microsoft has acquired several Bay Area properties in addition to this latest purchase, reported the Mercury News
