Microsoft Makes Move to Downtown Detroit
Microsoft Corp. will be moving its Michigan Microsoft Technology Center (MTC) to downtown Detroit in early 2018. The technology giant struck a deal with Bedrock to take down 40,000 square feet in the latter’s 985,098-square-foot One Campus Martius building at 1050 Woodward Ave. The center is currently working out of Southfield, MI.
According to billionaire Dan Gilbert, who heads up Bedrock (which is renovating many downtown Detroit buildings), tech talent these days want to work and live in urban cores. Additionally, he added, the MTC will “provide a much-needed resource for Detroit-based businesses.”
The Microsoft Technology Centers are nationwide centers that work with companies on creating more productivity on technology investments.
