Microsoft Building $400M Data Center Near SA
Castroville is a tiny town with 3,000 people about 25 minutes west of San Antonio. Microsoft plans to open a $400 million data center in the Medina County town that will span approximately 195,000 square feet. Construction is scheduled to begin in August and to last about two years at 2580 Farm to Market Road, 471 N.
Microsoft says it may build another project in Castroville. Microsoft previously filed for another data center building dubbed SAT 82 in July 2024, located at 18844 Farm to Market Road. The company said the data center would stretch to 244,675 square feet in size, with construction work starting in April 2026 and the project scheduled for completion in early 2028. That data center was estimated to cost Microsoft $482.6 million.
