Micro-Homes and Amarillo: A Good Match?
Developer Danny Schallenberg is in talks with Amarillo, TX city leaders about building a subdivision containing turn-key, micro-homes. Schallenberg wants to build 50 to 100 one and two-bedroom tiny homes that include the land and appliances. Depending on the floor plan, the houses would cost between $30,000 and $45,00o, and be no larger than 100 square feet.
Schallenberg has seen the concept work in his hometown of Spur, which has been declared the tiny house capital of America. He added that Spur, approximately 160 miles south of Amarillo, sold 75 tiny home lots during the past 18 months, which has boosted economic growth in the city.
